Property and Facility Policies
Our Mission: The mission of the First Baptist Church Burleson is to share the message of Jesus Christ locally and globally leading people to become maturing followers of Christ.
Our Facility Priorities: “Sharing the message of Jesus Christ locally” will often involve the use of our facilities. Worship, prayer, fellowship, Bible study, evangelism, and discipleship are key components of the Christian faith. When our facilities are used as a tool to accomplish these express purposes, their use is most clearly reflecting who we are and what we are about.
- With this in mind, the use of our facilities for FBC’s ministry programming is top priority. This includes weekly scheduled services, classes, programs, groups, etc. as well as other events that are a held on a less regular basis. (Christmas eve services, church-wide luncheons, seasonal ministries etc.)
- Secondary Uses: While our facilities are primarily used for the purposes of fulfilling the mission of the church, they may also be used for the personal benefit of church members and groups or organizations from the community at large. These requests will be considered based on several factors, including availability and the type of event. Due to potential schedule conflicts, rarely, if ever, are our facilities scheduled for ongoing meetings/programs that aren’t part of our ministry programming.
- Since a degree of endorsement of a group or organization is implied when we allow them to use our facilities, we reserve the right to deny reservations for facility use when there is a probability that the event could become disruptive or be representative of that which is dishonoring to the name of Christ. Typically outside groups and organizations who use our facilities fall into one of several of the following not for profit categories: Other churches and para-church organizations whose values and mission are in keeping with our own; educational entities, and civic/city/county functions. The following uses of our facility are inappropriate: groups or gatherings that are for-profit entities, political meetings, rallies, or other events endorsing a specific political candidate; groups or meetings whose purpose is to cover matters that are adversarial or litigious in nature.
Fees: Our church has invested millions of dollars into the buildings and equipment we have for the purpose of fulfilling our mission. Additionally, hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent annually to heat, cool, clean, maintain and repair these facilities and equipment. Because our operating budget for these categories and the scheduling of our custodial staff focuses primarily on keeping facilities and properties in top shape for our ministry programming, there are typically modest fees associated secondary uses of FBC facilities.
