The preschool ministry of First Baptist Church Burleson exists to establish an effective partnership between parents and the church to lead children to become fully devoted followers of Christ. We welcome you and your preschooler and look forward to the opportunity to work with you as parents teaching your child about the beauty of God's world and the wonder of his son, Jesus.
Guidelines
- All of our teachers are well-trained and love serving with preschoolers.
- During all sessions at First Baptist, age appropriate curriculum is used. Areas of study include: God, Jesus, Bible, self, others, nature, family and church.
- To ensure a learning environment, we strive to maintain the proper teacher/pupil ratio at each age level.
- At each session children are provided with choices and challenges allowing them to develop positively.
- All of our curriculum is Bible-based. At every session a Bible thought is at the core of everything taught.
- We strive to help each child associate God, Jesus, and the Bible with positive, happy feelings.
For Your Peace of Mind
A security system is in place for your child's safety.
A nursing room is provided for nursing mothers.
Pagers are available for first time visitors and nursing mothers. Ask the coordinator in your child's area for more information.
For the protection of your child and others, any child who is ill or appears ill cannot be accepted into the preschool department. Our guidelines are based on recommendations taken from the Report of the Committee on Control of Infectious Diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics. A child should not be left when any of the following exist:
- Fever (should be free of fever 24 hours)
- Vomiting and/or diarrhea
- Any symptoms of the usual childhood diseases: Scarlet fever, German measles, mumps, chicken pox and whooping cough
- Common cold (onset through one week): Sore throat, croup
- Any unexplained rash or skin infections: Boils, ringworm, impetigo
- Pink eye and eye infections
Teachers cannot administer medications of any kind.
Toddlers and infants with HIV infection will be accepted. Infection Control Guidelines as established by the Center of Disease Control have been implemented.
If your child becomes ill with a childhood disease following a preschool session, please inform the Preschool Minister (817) 295-2221 so that the information may be passed on to the other parents and proper action may be taken.
We are required by Texas state law to report all cases of suspected child abuse.
Infants will be fed formula, milk or water, as provided in plastic bottles. On Wednesday nights and Sunday nights we can spoon feed the babies. Time circumstances do not allow for spoon feeding on Sunday mornings.
Also for your child’s safety, it is preschool policy that preschool parents remain on the church campus while preschoolers are in our care. The only approved exception to this rule is the quarterly Adult Sunday School fellowships.
These guidelines have been established for the protection and safety of not only your child, but other preschoolers as well. Your cooperation in keeping these guidelines helps maintain a safe and healthy preschool environment.
Helpful Hints For Parents
Consistent church attendance will help preschoolers develop a sense of trust and security within their Sunday School class, as well as with their overall church experience.
A Bible Fellowship teacher will receive your child when you knock at the door. We ask that parents not enter the room. Entering the room not only makes your departure difficult and compromises security, it can also upset other children in the room.
Never slip away from your preschooler. Remind him in a kind, firm voice that you are going to church and that you will be back soon. Leave immediately. If your child continues to be upset, we will send for you.
You can help your chi ld develop “church security” by picking him up promptly after each session. Even a child who enjoys Bible Fellowship may become anxious and fearful when other children have departed. To prevent congestion in the hallways, we ask that only one parent pickup up your child.
Please label all personal items belonging to your child including diapers, diaper bag, bottles, bottle caps, pacifiers, blankets, coats and sweaters. We request that parents do not allow their children bring personal toys to church. Personal toys may be lost or broken and could create problems with other children in the class. We provide clean, disinfected toys for use in our classrooms.
Security
Security is of the utmost importance to the Pre-school Ministry of FBC. Each child will need to be checked in at the Pre-school Welcome Center prior to the session he attends. The child will receive a computer generated name tag with a security identification number on it. The parent will also receive a sticker with the same security number. Parents will need to present this sticker to the teacher when returning for the child.
- Preschoolers will only be released to an adult with the security sticker.
- Please do not ask a teacher to compromise the security system by not having your sticker available.
- Please remember only authorized teachers and authorized substitutes are permitted in the preschool classrooms.
- Security during evening sessions will be handled the same as for the morning session. Always return the sticker.
